Death of Snippets

Well - it's been an interesting year-and-a-half.

But I've decided - finally - to abandon snippeting.

Partly because of the reasons in the last post - I don't have any more to say in the current story without drastic spoilers, which I think would be a shame.

And partly because I've decided to pull all the old snippets from this blog because it is rather too public. After taking a bit of advice from experienced authors, I think it's the right thing to do.

Which is a shame.

This blog will, therefore, only be updated sporadically for the time being, I guess, as writing-related things happen in my life. It may become no more than a personal record. Who knows?

Good luck with whatever you're working on! I'll try to keep reading other people's entries from week to week, assuming anyone else keeps going!

Yeah, I think I'm headed the same way as you, which is such a bummer. It was fun while it lasted. :-) Thanks for all the advice you've given me. I've been able to apply your comments (to everyone, not just the ones you gave me) throughout my writing, and it's so much the better for it.

I will miss Gasoline. So long, Johnny and Knight!

I'll probably still post snippets occasionally, but when you're seriously working toward or for publication, it's risky to post too much. Contracts typically stipulate how much you can display as an extract, and it's easy to get carried away week after week. Ideally, I'll spruce up an old longer short story sitting in the stable eating its head off and serialize it. I just haven't had the time to do so.

(No snippet for me this week either)

I've done the same. I keep my snippet blog, or rather, two blogs dedicated to my Roman novels and the Fantasy prject respective, but I won't post snippets every week.
